"I gave my life to Christ/God". Is it true?

It is important we know with more precision what happened to us at salvation. There is a common term that is often used for this event which I cannot find a biblical origin for. It is to “give my life to Christ/God”.

How do saints in the Acts of Apostles and epistles describe the event of new birth?

In Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit began to indwell the first church and Peter preached that first gospel of Christ’s resurrection,

Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:37-38 KJV)

MY JOURNEY FROM FLESH TO FREEDOM

Once Flesh was my sworn husband. My name was Kay Flesh. My husband compelled me to do that which is contrary to God's laws. Though against my wish, the husband is the head of the wife, i just followed. I protested against him, called him evil, and all sort of names but my boss will keep lording sin over me. Yes! The law is holy and the commandments holy and just and good, but my marriage to Mr Flesh was my eternal mistake. Afterall i was not allowed to choose my Husband, i would not have made this tyrant my head. Many a times we'll fight and fight in the home, but he's stronger than me. I desired to please God after my inward man, but 'evil' is present with me. I sought a law court to seek redress. I went with my strong reasons for divorce, but "the two, saith he, shall be one Flesh". Who will hear me out when the law that governs the universe says it is 'till death do us part'.

The Peace Christ Made - The War is Over!

God and man in a new pact

Heart to heart touching, just like that?

A relationship in fellowship can now start

WHY ARE YOU CAST DOWN?

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.” PSALMS 42:11 (RSV)

When tears roll down your cheek like a child who can’t see His lights

When you try to look out for a ray of hope through the nights

Try to see if you can see a reason to move on but can’t find one

If only you could see someone to share burdens with but found none

When all you could see is a destiny going into a waste bin

Though all an external observer could see is the grin

Food shortage imminent as penury hits harder at the door

And the results of your exams knock you down to the floor

When grief possesses the merry portion of your heart

But you see the ungodly men everyday grow fat

When the gate of death seem to have taken over your world

And you try to pray, but your torment come and make you bored

DON'T BEAR WITH FEAR

FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real
With whom every ambitious must have to deal

It comes at every verge of triumph
And causes the weak things to show themselves tough
When you are just at the point of breakthrough
Then your ‘giant’ shows up to laugh at you

Only when your senses permit, fear penetrates
When you see how big the giant is, you faint
If you had never heard that snakes do bite
Would you have feared walking the bush even at night?

If you had never heard about the ways thieves rob
You won’t have seen any reason locking up your shop

FEAR IS EVERYWHERE
Oh! But you can’t go about blocking your ears
Neither will you keep the eyes closed to resist fear
In fact leave that environment and go elsewhere
Fear is everywhere and waiting for you there!

When fear comes knocking your gate
Don’t bear with it! Declare the words of FAITH
Recall how God has helped you overcome in the past
Seeing your weakest bold face, fear flees so fast
…to be continued, you win over the demon at last

What is an excuse?

I define an excuse simply as our ‘logical’ reasons, sensible and appealing explanation(s) for our failure. An excuse is a ‘decorated’ failure we carry about as our ‘pride’. An excuse is an attempt to justify our bad habit(s). It is establishing a wrong cause for a problem in us, in an attempt to avoid being chastised or shamed. Hmm… Excuse is shifting away blame from the real offender so that he escapes being reproved. In other words, excuse also is an act of injustice, untruthfulness, and insincerity. Oh! These are definitely not the fruit of the spirit, my dear brother!

For instance, a man arrives late at a meeting. An excuse-giver will not simply accept his offence and bear whatever shame may arise afterward. No! Rather, he’s ready to write a full book to explain and prove his point that he’s not to be blamed. Oh! Who then is?

“The traffic was so tight…” “don’t you know my house is very far?” “my own watch was late, so…” “I had a visitor,… and…”, “my neighbor just delivered…” Shut up! What? Is the word ‘I’m so sorry’ now TOO EXPENSIVE for you to buy one at least as a fine for being the last man to arrive at the meeting?

Oh friend, when we do not face reality in sincerity, we enslave ourselves in a world of fantasy and stagnancy. You need to understand that no one is ever helped by your excuses, so stop production and shut down that factory! Sit down there admiring your excuse, while someone else is progressing by setting aside the same. The fact that someone got to the meeting early means it is possible, thus abolishing your cherished defense. Take responsibility for your actions! Accept blame with shamefacedness! Expose your bad habit for reproof. You are an independent enterprise, which bears alone every loss recorded by your misdeeds; just as you enjoy any profit your right attitude fetches you. Work on yourself and enjoy you for yourself!
